Maryanne P. Dailey, Sr. Vice President of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont was my guest on this show. The variety of consumer fraud approaches, and the legitimate appearance of many of these fraudulent activities is often overwhelming to the older adult. Maintaining one’s independence is paramount to most individuals. As a result, many people fall victim to fraud because they are reluctant to ask for the opinion of family or close friends. Older adults do not want to risk having their judgement questioned, and often they do not report being ‘scammed’, as they do not want to be judged incompetent to handle their own personal and financial affairs.
This show is a ‘must listen to’ for older adults, their family and caregivers. And if you think that an organization is questionable, or you are approached with a ‘too good to be true’ opportunity….contact the Better Business Bureau before you get involved in any way! www.bbb.org.
Thanks for being a part of my mission …”to improve the quality of life for all of our senior adults by facilitating their ability to stay informed, involved, active and listened to.”
