Julie Hutt, the Director of Education and Community Outreach for P.A.C.E. of the Southern Piedmont, is my sole guest for the show. Julie was a nurse in England for many years, and she has been an important member of the senior adult care community in the Carolinas for the past several years. Julie shared a hello to her Mom and Dad in England and Spain, and we had a most informative conversation about caring for older adults, both locally and long distance. Julie reminded everyone that a good place to start if you need assistance is Just One Call, at 704-432-1111 or 877-889-0323.
Sheila, our executive producer graced us with her presence today, and she discussed caring for her Mom who is in a local independent living community in Charlotte. We discussed the most important item for senior adults that surfaces in each focus group study we’ve done: independence.
The P.A.C.E. model actually started in San Francisco back in 1971 with the Chinatown-North Beach Health Care Planning and Development Corporation. It was soon renamed On Lok Senior Health Services, and one of the first Adult Day Care Centers opened in San Francisco in 1973.
Sit back, relax and enjoy one of my favorite Brits- Julie Hutt, and my executive producer Sheila,as we discuss caring for senior adults and P.A.C.E.
